After missing out on Franjo Ivanovic, Lazio are making concrete steps in their attempts to sign Sassuolo striker Andrea Pinamonti.

Lazio Struggling to Find a New Striker

Last season, no Lazio player managed to score more than five goals across all competitions. Therefore, Gennaro Gattuso immediately flagged this issue upon his arrival, asking the club to prioritize the signing of a new centre-forward. However, sporting director Angelo Fabiani has found little joy in his striker hunt thus far.

Santiago Gimenez was identified as Gattuso’s dream target, but Lazio cannot afford to buy him outright, while AC Milan have yet to open up to an initial loan. Franjo Ivanovic then emerged as a plausible target, with Benfica giving the Aquile the green light, but the Croatian preferred to join RC Lens, who will play in the Champions League this season.

Pinamonti Ready to Join Lazio

After missing out on Ivanovic, Lazio are expected to accelerate their work on alternative tracks, and many sources have pinpointed Pinamonti as the next target.

According to Italian journalist Damiano Er Faina, the 27-year-old is open to joining the Biancocelesti this summer, while his agent, Bepe Riso (who also represents Danilo Cataldi), recently held a meeting with Lazio officials, and the striker’s name came up in the discussion. The source also mentions Fiorentina’s Roberto Piccoli as another target for the club, but confirms stiff competition from Bologna.

Pinamonti’s Career Path, Stats & Contract

Pinamonti is an Inter Milan youth product who made a name for himself during his loan spells at Genoa and Empoli, and then went on to sign for Sassuolo in 2022. In his three seasons at the club (he spent the 2024/25 campaign on loan at Genoa), he made 109 appearances and scored 26 goals, forming a dangerous attacking trident with Armand Lauriente and Neroverdi icon Domenico Berardi.

The striker only has one year left on his contract, so Sassuolo could be willing to grant Lazio a discount (perhaps reducing the asking price to €10 million) to avoid losing his services for free.
