Sassuolo have confirmed that they have activated their option to buy for goalkeeper Arijanet Muric, but his parent club Ipswich Town are not obliged to purchase Jens Cajuste on a permanent basis from Napoli.
According to the latest updates from Fabrizio Romano, Sassuolo have activated their option to buy for 27-year-old goalkeeper Muric at a cost of €7m.
The stopper, formerly of Manchester City, had recently claimed that he would not be returning to Sassuolo in 2026-27 for personal reasons.
“U.S. Sassuolo Calcio announces that it has exercised the right to acquire the sporting rights of the player Arijanet Muric from Ipswich Town,” the club wrote in a statement.
“The Kosovar goalkeeper arrived at Sassuolo in the summer of 2025 after his experience in the Premier League. He made 32 appearances for a total of 2880 minutes of play in the Neroverdi shirt.”
The Kosovo international made 31 consecutive Serie A appearances this season, helping Sassuolo to a respectable 11th-place finish in their first season back in the top flight, but only appeared once in the final six matches of the 2025-26 season.
Meanwhile, it has been confirmed that Ipswich are not obliged to purchase midfielder Cajuste from Napoli this summer.

Ipswich still have an option to purchase the Swede for a fee of €7.5m, but their potential obligation to buy clause has expired as Cajuste did not play for 50% of the team’s Championship matches this season, which was one of the conditions for the obligation to buy clause.
