Sassuolo forward Andrea Pinamonti has lifted the lid on his time at Inter Milan during Antonio Conte’s Scudetto-winning season, revealing the personal sacrifice required to remain at the club and the manager who convinced him to stay despite limited opportunities.

The Sassuolo striker, speaking to Tuttosport, recalled a difficult but ultimately rewarding period at the Nerazzurri.

Asked about life under Conte in the title-winning campaign, Pinamonti was honest about the emotional toll of being a squad player.

“When Sunday comes and you don’t play, it eats at you,” he said. “But I understood who was ahead of me. Conte deserves my gratitude, I grew a lot with him.”

The former Inter man also revealed that he had pushed to leave in January, only to be talked out of it by the manager himself.

“I had asked the coach if I could leave. He told me: ‘I cannot promise you that you will start, but I want you to stay here, you will see the benefits on the pitch.’ I had to eat a lot of sh*t. But I had the satisfaction of the title.”

On whether he regrets leaving Inter permanently, Pinamonti was philosophical.

“Everything has taught me something, so no regrets.”

A measured answer from a player who knows that swapping San Siro for Sassuolo is a career path that has ultimately shaped him, even if the road was harder than he would have liked.
