Saud Abdulhamid has been named in Saudi Arabia’s 26-player World Cup squad for 11 June to 19 July. According to L'Équipe, the Lens full-back was selected on Monday by new head coach Georgios Donis and is the only player in the group who is not domestic-based.
The rest of the squad play in Saudi Arabia, mostly in the Saudi Pro League, with goalkeeper Mohammed Al Owais featuring in the second tier for Al Ula.
Saudi Arabia have been drawn in Group H to face Cape Verde, Spain and Uruguay.
Donis succeeded Hervé Renard in April.
Abdulhamid joined Lens last summer on loan with an option to buy from AS Rome. The squad otherwise includes players from Al Hilal, Al Nassr, Al Ahli, Al Ittihad, Al Qadsiah, Neom, Al Ettifaq and Al Ula.
