Saudi and US clubs have approached Erick Pulgar’s camp about triggering the Flamengo midfielder’s release clause.

‘It depends what low means to you. Now, we are alert to it, we have already spoken with the player, he is happy here. We do not fear losing him,’ said Flamengo football director José Boto. He told ESPN this week.

Pulgar’s representatives confirmed overseas interest and said one club already has salaries and signing-on fees agreed with the 32-year-old. They are seeking improved terms from Flamengo, and add that if the clause is paid in full, a transfer would be the natural outcome.

The Chile international is under contract until the end of 2027, and his buyout fell in July to four million dollars, about R$20.3 million at current rates. Interested teams do not need to negotiate with Flamengo, they can simply notify payment of the clause. The window opens next week, and while the board do not plan to sell any starter, exits remain possible.

Pulgar has made 162 appearances for Flamengo since 2022, with five goals, nine assists and nine trophies, including Carioca 2024, 2025 and 2026, Libertadores 2022 and 2025, Copa do Brasil 2022 and 2024, Supercopa do Brasil 2025 and Brasileiro 2025. He renewed in March last year with a pay rise, yet still earns less than some back-up midfielders.
