Saudi Arabia arrive at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta on Sunday looking to build on a resilient opening display.
Georgios Donis earned widespread praise for engineering a disciplined, compact performance against Uruguay on matchday one — a result that left Group H level on points and gave the Green Falcons genuine belief heading into this fixture.
Absorbing pressure and hitting on the counter has become Saudi Arabia’s calling card under Donis, and they will need every bit of that tactical discipline against a Spain side desperate to prove themselves after their Cape Verde disappointment.
Donis has a fully fit squad at his disposal and is expected to name an unchanged side from the XI that drew with Uruguay. Mohammed Al-Owais continues in goal.
Abdulelah Al Amri, who scored in the opener, anchors the defensive backline alongside Hassan Al-Tambakti, with Saud Abdulhamid and Moteb Al-Harbi as the wide defenders.
Abdullah Al-Khaibari and Mohamed Kanno form the midfield base, tasked with disrupting Spain’s passing rhythm. Mansour Al-Shamat provides energy and carries the ball in transition.
Captain Salem Al-Dawsari retains his place on the left wing, bringing experience and unpredictability to the attack. The 34-year-old has scored 27 times for his country and will be Saudi Arabia’s most dangerous outlet.
Firas Al-Buraikan leads the line, having scored 15 international goals, with Musab Al-Juwayr supporting him through pressing and movement in behind.
Saudi Arabia possible starting XI: Al-Owais; Abdulhamid, Al Tambakti, Al Amri, Al Harbi; Al Shamat, Al-Khaibari, Kanno, S. Al-Dawsari; Al Buraikan, Al-Juwayr
The Group H fixture kicks off at 17:00 BST on Sunday, 21 June 2026, at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
UK viewers can watch the match live and free-to-air on BBC One, with a live stream available via BBC iPlayer and the BBC Sport website.
