It has been no secret this season that FC Barcelona midfielder Marc Casado has struggled to recapture the form that made him such an indispensable player at the beginning of last season. The former Barca Atletic captain has struggled for form and confidence and seen his minutes diminish.
Now, according to Mundo Deportivo, Casado has received a huge offer from Saudi Arabia ahead of the next transfer window. The unnamed club are willing to make a lucrative offer to the player to convince him to continue his career in the Middle East.
For now, though, the player’s focus seems clear. Casado insists he is not currently considering leaving Barcelona and is fully concentrated on helping the team chase the two biggest prizes still in play, La Liga and the Champions League.
That part matters from a Barcelona perspective. Casado may not be a regular starter right now, but his situation is not that of a player already halfway out the door. His value as a squad player is so obvious for everyone to see.
The dip in minutes helps explain why outside interest is growing. Casado has played 29 matches and 1,276 minutes in all competitions so far this season, with the return of Marc Bernal compensating for Frenkie de Jong’s injuries.
The report also outlines that the 22-year-old had interest from Manchester United and Atletico Madrid last summer. Casado is talented, versatile, and still young enough to attract clubs willing to offer both money and a clearer pathway.
For Barcelona, it ultimately comes down to the player’s intention and the fee on the table. If they deem the fee acceptable, they could move on a player who isn’t playing much and look to promote from within. Let’s wait and see how this transfer saga plays out.
