Liverpool face the prospect of losing chief executive of football Michael Edwards and sporting director Richard Hughes, according to The Independent.

The Liverpool duo oversaw last summer’s record-breaking transfer window. This upcoming transfer market opening is also important, as they still have issues to address.

However, the Saudi Pro League is sniffing around, sensing an opportunity to snap up the directors.

Liverpool hired Edwards to lead what they expected to be a network of clubs, but after analysing several teams, the Reds have not advanced with any concrete plan.

Beyond that, the squad still lacks a true holding midfielder to anchor the engine room, and the wide areas need refreshing.

This is not a window for uncertainty or upheaval behind the scenes.
