Manchester City winger Savinho has posted a cryptic message on Instagram which could hint that his reported £65 million move to Spurs is nearly complete.
The Brazilian shared a story on Thursday showing a white suitcase in an empty gym, with a Portuguese caption that translates roughly into: “See you in a bit – I’m off to have some fun, I’ll be back soon,” accompanied with a starry-eyed emoji.
This could be no more than a message about the forward’s holiday travels but – with Manchester City‘s sale of the 21-year-old to Tottenham understood to be nearing its conclusion – it’s not a stretch to interpret the post as a subtle nod toward his next destination.
Tottenham set to accelerate pursuit of Manchester City forward after FIFA World Cup
According to the Daily Mail, City are in the process of closing the sale of Savinho to the London club for a fee in the region of £65 million, continuing interest that was widely reported in the January window but ultimately came to nothing.
For City, the winger’s expected exit leaves a gap out wide that Enzo Maresca‘s recruitment team are already working to fill, with the Daily Mail reporting that the Citizens are actively canvassing the market for wingers as the Savinho sale nears its conclusion.
City’s next young wide star could well be Ibrahim Mbaye, the 18-year-old Paris Saint-Germain winger who impressed for Senegal at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The teenager is said to be ready to leave the Ligue 1 champions this summer, and Spurs are named among other potential suitors whether they get a Savinho deal across the line or not.
Mbaye is now being managed by super-agent Jorge Mendes, and City face competition for his signature, with Aston Villa and RB Leipzig all said to be monitoring the situation closely.
City are not short of alternatives beyond Mbaye, either, having previously made enquiries for Real Madrid‘s Rodrygo last year.
Manchester City reject Arsenal loan approach for star forward
Regardless of incomings, it looks increasingly likely that Savinho’s time at the Etihad Stadium is drawing to a close after making 84 appearances and scoring seven goals in two seasons.
