Scarves, flags and flowers appeared on graves in Gipuzkoa as supporters marked Real Sociedad’s Copa triumph with quiet tributes.

According to Diario Vasco, dozens of graves at Polloe cemetery in Donostia were decorated in blue and white to honour Real Sociedad followers who are no longer here.

Families placed scarves over headstones, set club flags by plots and arranged flowers in the colours to share the moment with absent relatives.

Thousands in the province shared the same thought, that absent loved ones would have savoured the victory when the team were crowned Copa champions.

The gestures formed a collective homage, tying the club’s success to the memory of supporters at Polloe and across Gipuzkoa.
