Before setting off for Saalfelden, RB Leipzig have one more game to play at Cottaweg. The Red Bulls host SC Verl at the RBL Football Academy at 11:30 CEST on Saturday, 1st August with the match once again taking place over two 60-minute periods.
The Red Bulls head into their third friendly of the summer with two wins under their belts. A 2-1 victory over VSG Altglienicke was followed by a 1-0 success against FC Ingolstadt 04. Next up are an ambitious Verl side who finished sixth in the third tier last season, 15 points ahead of Ingolstadt.

Goalkeeper Timo Schlieck joined SC Verl on loan earlier this summer. The 20-year-old will begin the 2026/27 campaign as their number one and is expected to gain valuable first-team experience in East Westphalia.
“On the line, he is capable of saving anything and he has a commanding presence because of his height,” Verl sporting director Zlatko Janjić said in praise of the RBL loanee.
The meeting with RBL is Verl’s final dress rehearsal before the start of the league season. Verl begin their campaign a week later with an away game against Alemannia Aachen.

The friendly against Verl brings the first phase of pre-season to a close, with the Red Bulls set to step up the intensity afterwards. The squad will travel directly to Saalfelden for a week-long training camp, where Micho and his players will work intensively on their fitness, patterns of play and collective approach.
The next stop after the Alps is England, where another tough test awaits against Leeds United. The game at Elland Road will provide a valuable benchmark as preparations for the new season continue.
