Scotland earn a point away to Slovenia in Pocognoli's first game | OneFootball

Scotland's Sébastien Pocognoli era began with a goalless draw away to Slovenia that had some promising signs.

The old cliche of a game of two halves was very much evident in Ljubljana with the home side well on top in the first 45 minutes. 

Indeed, Slovenia will feel like they should have at least two goals up with the best chance of the first period coming within the first 15 minutes when former Middlesbrough man Andraž Šporar had a great opportunity go wide of the goal.

However, the second half was a vastly different story and Scotland will be kicking themselves for not talking three points home.

Recently-recalled striker Oli McBurnie was guilty of missing an opportunity early into the second period when he was played through one-on-one with Jan Oblak but the big goalkeeper just managed to get something to the ball as the Hull City man tried to go around him.

The chances continued with Oblak again saving his side and stopping McBurnie when he made a reflex save to deny the striker.

In the end, Slovenia managed to hold on for a point but Scotland will feel that second half performance gives them plenty of promise going forward.
