Scots aim to reach World Cup knockouts for the first time

It’s crunch time for Scotland as they take on Brazil as they look to secure passing to the World Cup knockouts for the first time in their history.

Steve Clarke’s men lost to Morocco in their last game, but a 1-0 win over Haiti in their opener means they can progress to the knockouts without a heavy loss to the Selecao.

Five-time winners Brazil started slowly in the group, being outplayed by Morocco in a 1-1 draw before swatting aside Haiti 3-0.

But they have yet to kick into gear, so head coach Carlo Ancelotti has his work cut out to mastermind a deep run in the tournament.

Scotland vs Brazil is scheduled for a 11pm BST kick-off on Wednesday, June 24, 2026.

The match will take place at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida.

Scotland vs Brazil team news

There are no injury concerns for the Tartan Army, as talisman Scott McTominay will look to make his mark on the biggest stage, after seeing a penalty appeal waved away against the Moroccans.

Clarke has some selection dilemmas: winger Ben Gannon-Doak started against Haiti then dropped against Morocco, but his dribbling skills can disrupt any defence.

John McGinn and Ryan Christie were seen as alternate options in central midfield, but Clarke played both against Morocco, pushing McTominay into a no10 role behind Che Adams.

Will Clarke stick or twist?

Neymar has been confirmed as available for this game by Ancelotti after missing the first two, but the Italian will be more concerned by the hamstring injury picked up by Barcelona forward Raphinha, with reports suggesting he’ll miss the game.

Matheus Cunha’s double against Haiti vindicated Ancelotti’s decision to drop Brentford striker Igor Thiago after an ineffectual display against Morocco. The Manchester United man should look to pick up a couple more.

Brazil squad: Alisson Becker, Ederson, Weverton, Marquinhos, Gabriel Magalhaes, Gleison Bremer, Leo Pereira, Roger Ibanez, Wesley Franca, Danilo, Alex Sandro, Douglas Santos, Casemiro, Bruno Guimaraes, Fabinho, Danilo, Lucas Paqueta, Vinicius Jr, Raphinha, Matheus Cunha, Luiz Henrique, Gabriel Martinelli, Neymar, Endrick, Rayan, Igor Thiago

Scotland vs Brazil prediction

Brazil have looked shaky so far, being outplayed against Morocco and unconvincing against Haiti, but they have a lot of quality in the form of Vinicius Jr and Matheus Cunha.

Scotland also do not need to win here: a 1-0 defeat could easily take them through as a best third-placed side.

I think Scotland could be dumped out by a convincing Brazil win, who finally announce themselves at this tournament.
