An immediate search and arrest order has been issued for the Al-Thani family in the Málaga CF case. According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, a provisional BlueBay payment of just over 500,000 euros to the club for advertising on the shirts has also been approved.

The order takes effect at once, with no scope for further representations. Days earlier, Sheikh Abdullah Al-Thani regained control of Nasir Bin Abdullah & Sons SL, previously run by court-appointed administrator José María Muñoz.

In October, the public prosecutor sought a European Arrest Warrant for Abdullah Al-Thani and his sons Rakan, Nasser and Nayef over alleged mismanagement of Málaga CF. It followed Málaga’s Court of Instruction number 14 opening oral proceedings in June for alleged misappropriation, disloyal administration and abusive agreements.

Judge María de los Ángeles Ruiz had resisted ordering it despite repeated BlueBay applications. With decisions from the Prosecutor's Office and Provincial Court now on file, her ruling will be decisive in accelerating the case.

Prosecutors argue the accused have used their defence rights and residence abroad to hinder the process, which they say is unacceptable. They want the quartet brought before the Spanish judicial authority so a hearing can decide their personal situation.

Enforcement applies within the area of free movement covering 29 European states and in countries with which Spain has extradition agreements. If they enter any of those territories, authorities will move to return them to Málaga to appear in court.
