Sebastian Beccacece has stepped down as Ecuador head coach after a 0-2 defeat to Mexico ended their World Cup campaign on Tuesday night.

“I would have liked to carry on, to win one more match today. I think the most important thing was to reach the objective we had set ourselves. Football is about results. I have to say goodbye to a wonderful family, with much gratitude, serenity and great inner peace, knowing we gave everything,” he said, speaking to DSports.
