Sebastian Kehl is expected to join Tottenham Hotspur as their new sporting director pending confirmation of Premier League safety, according to Sky Sports.

The club are recruiting the German to work alongside Johan Lange following Fabio Paratici’s departure.

However, Kehl’s arrival will only happen if Spurs hold on to their top-flight status at the end of the season.

They host Everton in their last game of the season on Sunday and could need a victory to avoid relegation.

Tottenham are currently 17th in the Premier League table heading into the final weekend.

However, 18th-place West Ham United are only two points behind them. The Hammers will stay up if they beat Leeds United and Tottenham lose.

Spurs manager Roberto De Zerbi will be desperate to avoid defeat against Everton, as a draw will be enough to keep them up due to their superior goal difference over the Hammers.

Kehl will be monitoring the situation alongside Liverpool defender Andy Robertson and other targets.

The Scottish defender is a free agent at the end of the season, and he has agreed terms to sign for Tottenham if survival is confirmed.

Bournemouth centre-back Marcos Senesi and Spurs have also reached an agreement in principle over a potential summer move, dependent on their league status.

They cannot afford to go down and will have to deliver a better performance on Sunday, following their toothless display against Chelsea in midweek.
