The second in-person stage of the Federal Football Refereeing Course opened on Tuesday at Club Germinal in Rawson, bringing together young aspiring match officials from across Chubut and the wider region.
According to SuperDepor.com, the programme is designed to raise the standard of Patagonian refereeing, combining core theory with practical tools to meet the demands of the modern game.
The training began with a first session in May in Puerto Madryn, and stems from an agreement between AFA, via the Consejo Federal, the Liga del Valle del Chubut, the Unión de Árbitros Deportivos de Argentina and the Universidad del Chubut, with support from Chubut Deportes and the municipalities of Puerto Madryn and Rawson.
The opening was attended by Rawson mayor Damián Biss, Liga del Valle del Chubut president Javier Treuque, Chubut Deportes general manager Mariano Ferro and Universidad del Chubut rector Marcela Freytes Frey, alongside AFA representatives and course participants.
Biss praised the effort of those who travelled to take part, the organisers’ commitment and the joint work between institutions, clubs and public bodies that enabled the initiative.
He also highlighted the strong involvement of younger generations and the growing prominence of women in the refereeing sphere, framing the course as an opportunity for development.
The mayor wished attendees two productive days of learning, expressing hope that the meeting would serve as another step towards their ambitions.
