Manchester United chiefs have reportedly been unimpressed with Alejandro Garnacho’s latest public stunt and are even prepared to slash their asking price in a bid to expedite his sale.

Garnacho is not believed to have a future at United, having fallen out with Ruben Amorim at the end of last season.

Tensions between the two had been simmering during the 2024/25 campaign and finally came to a head after the forward was named on the bench for the Europa League final defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.

After the final whistle, Garnacho slammed Amorim’s decision while also casting doubts over his future at Old Trafford. His petulant brother didn’t help the situation, taking to social media to accuse Amorim of throwing him under the bus.

It consequently emerged that Amorim told Garnacho to find a new club as his services are no longer needed.

A report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that Garnacho is one of the players Amorim is considering not to include in his pre-season squad ahead of the 2025/26 season.

The Argentine has been linked to the likes of Chelsea, Aston Villa, Bayer Leverkusen, Atletico Madrid, Napoli and Al-Nassr. However, it’s understood he is keen to remain in the Premier League and would especially jump at the chance to sign for Chelsea.

Amidst uncertainty over his future, Garnacho courted further controversy over the weekend as he posted a picture of himself wearing a Villa jersey last weekend.

The shirt had Marcus Rashford’s name on the back.

Unsurprisingly, this didn’t sit well with sections of the fanbase, many of whom openly voiced their frustration over yet another instance of Garnacho’s questionable behaviour on social media.

Now, it has emerged that United’s executives were equally unimpressed, with the incident only strengthening their belief that selling the winger may be the best course of action.

According to the Daily Star, “Alejandro Garnacho has been told he is a Manchester United misfit who has to be sold this summer.”

“Garnacho’s controversial behaviour has made United even more determined to sell him and co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe is even willing to lower his asking price to get rid of the Argentine winger.”

“United have not commented on Garnacho’s decision to wear an Aston Villa shirt with Marcus Rashford’s name on the back, while on a summer break in Ibiza. But in private, club chiefs are seething with the stunt – and will redouble their efforts to offload the winger.”

The newspaper claims that United value Garnacho at £60 million, but there is a growing acceptance that they may need to lower their demands, given it’s widely known that Amorim does not see him as part of his plans.

United may be forced to accept a sum of around £45m for the 20-year-old but they’re willing to do this.
