Segečić strikes early as Birmingham clinch top-half finish

Portsmouth 1-1 Birmingham City at Fratton Park on Saturday, a result that lifted the visitors from 14th to 10th in the Championship.
In the eighth minute, Adrian Segečić finished from the centre after Jordan Williams' cross to put Portsmouth ahead.
Birmingham lost Jay Stansfield to injury (17.), but August Priske levelled with a close-range header from Kai Wagner's cross following a corner (19.). Portsmouth then withdrew John Swift after a knock (21.).
Ben Killip preserved parity with sharp stops, denying Priske (36.) and Ibrahim Osman (39.).
After the restart, Conor Chaplin forced James Beadle into a save from the centre of the box (53.).
Portsmouth attempted 14 shots, landing two on target. Birmingham registered five efforts on target and won nine corners.
Portsmouth finish 18th in the table.
