Selke strikes early as Başakşehir climb into fifth | OneFootball

Başakşehir beat Gaziantep 2-1 on Saturday to climb from sixth to fifth in the Süper Lig.

In the sixth minute, Davie Selke put the visitors ahead, turning in Abbosbek Fayzullayev's corner from close range.

A foul by goalkeeper Mustafa Burak Bozan on Selke led to a penalty, and Eldor Shomurodov converted from the spot (22.). Selke then departed injured soon after, with Nuno da Costa introduced.

After the restart, Christopher Lungoyi halved the deficit with a low finish (59.), set up by Deian Cristian Sorescu.

Muhammed Sengezer preserved the lead with four saves, denying efforts from Alexandru Maxim and Sorescu as Gaziantep pushed late.

Gaziantep registered 11 attempts with five on target and 52.9% possession. Başakşehir mustered nine attempts and hit the target four times.

Başakşehir make it back to back league wins and end a four match away winless run. Gaziantep suffer a fourth straight league defeat.
