Nottingham Forest have knocked Ipswich Town out of the FA Cup 5-4 on penalties after the sides were locked in a 1-1 draw over 120 minutes of action.
Scorers: Hirst 53', Yates 68'
The teams went in at the break goalless, and it was Premier League strugglers Ipswich who took the lead not long into the second half, when George Hirst bundled the ball over the line from a corner.
But the home side were back in it when a superb ball in from Anthony Elanga was met by the head of Ryan Yates.
Yates thought he'd scored a second not long afterwards, but his attempt was ruled out for offside.
The sides finished the 90 minutes locked at 1-1, and so a period of extra time followed that ended goalless.
So penalties it was, and Chris Wood and Sam Morsy converted the first spot-kicks for their respective sides and it continued in that vein until Ipswich's fifth penalty which Jack Taylor stepped up to take and Matz Sels pulled off a save.
The results sees Forest meet Brighton away from home in the quarter-final.
