Senegal federation clarifies airport tarmac checks after viral video in United States | OneFootball

The Senegalese federation moved to clarify the context on Tuesday after footage of national team players undergoing security checks on a United States airport tarmac spread widely on social media.

The federation said in a statement that the scene was filmed at Raleigh, North Carolina, on 7 June during boarding, not on arrival in Texas.

It explained the delegation’s bus was allowed to drive directly onto the tarmac so players and staff could complete security at the foot of the aircraft, rather than through the terminal.

The arrangement aimed to save time and ease boarding for a private flight to San Antonio, and the procedure complied with airport security rules. No incident was reported.

Senegal open their World Cup against France on 16 June at 21:00. Pape Thiaw’s side face Saudi Arabia in a final warm-up in the early hours of Wednesday at 1:00.
