Sereias da Vila appoint Marcelo Frigerio as new head coach | OneFootball

Marcelo Frigerio has been named head coach of the Sereias da Vila after the dismissal of Caio Couto. The club announced the appointment on Saturday, 25 April.

The 55-year-old, known as Tchelo, arrives for his first stint at Santos after leading Pumas in Mexico.

Frigerio said it is a source of huge pride to work at Santos, a giant in the men’s game with major weight in the women’s. He praised the Sereias’ history, said he had long wanted the job, and added he was delighted to be there.

Born in Milan, he began his career in Brazil and came to prominence by coaching Equatorial Guinea at the 2011 World Cup. He has also managed leading Brazilian clubs and took charge of Paraguay at the 2022 Copa América. Outside Brazil he has led Changchun Volkswagen in China and Atletico Oristano in Italy.

Having reviewed recent matches, he believes Santos have the quality to compete well. He said supporters can expect hard work, seriousness and professionalism, and above all an organised team with a strong will to win.
