Leeds United’s £34m capture of centre-back Tarik Muharemovic has drawn praise from Hull City boss Sergej Jakirovic, who views the 23-year-old as a strong fit for Daniel Farke’s side.

The move from Sassuolo was confirmed last week, with the Bosnia and Herzegovina international signing a five-year deal that ranks as Leeds’ second-highest ever fee and replaces outgoing Pascal Struijk. "He's a very good player," said Jakirovic. "He had a very good season in Sassuolo." He told The Yorkshire Post.

"There was a lot of interest about him from a lot of big names. He's a left-footed centre-back, a national team player, and Bosnia has played a good World Cup. It will be a good profile for Leeds."

Leeds supporters might have to wait to see him in action, with his post-World Cup holiday resuming after a brief visit to Elland Road. The defender is likely to join pre-season midway through the US tour. He featured for Bosnia, who reached the last-32 before defeat by the USA.

Leeds travel to the MKM Stadium on December 30, with the return at Elland Road on March 3.

"As a player I will give everything for this club," he told LUTV. "I hate to lose and I will fight for every ball."
