Leeds United have completed a £34million deal for Sassuolo centre-back Tarik Muharemovic, the 23-year-old signing a five-year contract at Elland Road last week to replace outgoing Pascal Struijk. Hull City boss Sergej Jakirovic has welcomed the move for Daniel Farke’s side.
“He's a very good player. He had a very good season in Sassuolo. There was a lot of interest about him from a lot of big names. He's a left-footed centre-back, a national team player, and Bosnia has played a good World Cup.” The Yorkshire Post was the original outlet.
“It will be a good profile for Leeds. He grew up in Austria so he speaks German and they [Leeds] have coaches from Germany. so I think he will adapt very well.”
Bosnia and Herzegovina reached the last-32 before losing to the USA earlier in the summer.
Supporters may need to wait to see Muharemovic in action, with his post-World Cup holiday resuming after a visit to Elland Road last week. He is likely to join pre-season midway through the US tour.
Leeds visit the MKM Stadium on December 30, with Hull due at Elland Road on March 3.
Muharemovic has been admired by Sassuolo and by his country for elite mentality and leadership qualities.
