Hull City boss Sergej Jakirovic has discussed their transfer plans following promotion to the Premier League.
Hull City won promotion to the Premier League in dramatic fashion thanks to a stoppage time goal from Oli McBurnie against Middlesbrough at Wembley.
With the club operating under a transfer embargo last summer, many tipped the Tigers to be fighting to stay in the division this season.
However, they defied the odds to secure their place in the play-offs on the final day of the campaign, and Sergej Jakirovic’s men overcame Millwall over two legs to reach the final.
Then, in a tight, tense game at Wembley, McBurnie made the difference to cap off his own fantastic year, and Hull will now be mixing it with the elite next season.
All connected to Hull will still be celebrating, but attention is going to quickly turn to the 2026/27 campaign for the recruitment team at the club.

Clearly, there is a big gap to bridge, but Sunderland and Leeds have proven that it’s not impossible to win promotion and compete in the top flight, with the Black Cats having finished in the Europa League places on their return to the Premier League.
Naturally, they will be a team for the Tigers to try and emulate when it comes to recruitment, and Jakirovic told the Hull Daily Mail gave an insight into their transfer plans, as he admitted he expects to be working with a ‘nice budget’.
“We are on the same page (with the owner), so we will try to use this money very wisely," Jakirovic said.
"Maybe we will get an embargo again, who knows?
“We have a nice budget and we will see. The recruitment team has a lot of big days ahead of them.
"The chemistry is good with the owner, and he supports me and believes in me. When you have that type of support you can deliver a good result. When you have that type of support you can deliver a good result.
“We will try to add better players than we have right now. The main players who bring us to the Premier League can stay and help us, but we need to add better players as well. Sunderland are a good recipe, they add speed and dynamic players.”
The update adds that Hull had already drawn up a list of targets for the window for whichever league they were playing in, and given owner Acun Ilicali has utilised his links to the Turkish Super Lig in the last few years, expect some ambitious signings from that part of the world now that they are back in the top flight of English football.
There will be an expectation from many that Hull will go down next season, but this group has already shown that they can make pre-season predictions look silly.

Nevertheless, it seems pretty clear that major investment is required in the squad, but Jakirovic’s words are encouraging in that sense as it looks as though he is expecting some serious support to bring in some real quality to the club.
The jump to the Premier League is a massive one, and Leeds and Sunderland have shown this season that it's vital you add experience, as well as quality.
We know that Acun Ilicali is very ambitious, and with Hull set to benefit from the enormous riches that come with playing in the Premier League, a hectic, and exciting, summer awaits for the club.
So, it’s a great time to be a Hull fan, and it will be interesting to see what sort of business gets done over the coming months, and how strong Jakirovic’s starting 11, and squad, looks when the Premier League season starts in August.
