Sergi Dominguez ‘to join’ Lazio after €3 million Dinamo Zagreb deal | OneFootball

La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Lazio have reached a €3 million agreement with Dinamo Zagreb for Sergi Dominguez, and the official announcement might not arrive before July.

The Biancocelesti have tracked the 21-year-old for months. He would become their second summer signing after Alfonso Pedraza.

A La Masia graduate, the Spaniard progressed through every Barcelona age group, made a handful of senior appearances, then left last summer seeking a bigger role.

He quickly became a mainstay for Dinamo Zagreb, helping secure a domestic double and contributing two goals and four assists in all competitions.

At Lazio, Dominguez is viewed as the long-term successor to fellow Barcelona native Mario Gila, though not necessarily his immediate replacement. The club are weighing up keeping the 25-year-old despite mounting interest.

Gila is not planning to extend his contract beyond 2027. Claudio Lotito and Angelo Fabiani prefer to retain him for another year rather than accept a cut-price sale that would be shared with Real Madrid, who hold a 50% sell-on.

Dominguez could therefore serve as Gila’s understudy next season while settling at Formello, then take over in June 2027. A similar pathway was used with Alessio Romagnoli and Oliver Provstgaard, and incoming head coach Gennaro Gattuso is pleading with the Italian defender to stay.
