Serhou Guirassy passed fit for Borussia Dortmund’s clash against Athletic Club | OneFootball

Borussia Dortmund host Athletic Club on Matchday 2 of the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League. Speaking ahead of Wednesday’s game, BVB head coach Niko Kovač confirmed that Serhou Guirassy has been passed fit to feature after an injury scare against Mainz on Saturday.

The 29-year-old was named in Dortmund’s starting lineup but suffered a minor thigh injury in the pre-match warm-up which resulted in a last minute change with Julian Brandt replacing Guirassy within an hour of kick-off.

Speaking in Tuesday’s press conference, Kovač said: “Duranville, Anselmino and Can aren’t there. Neither are Patrick Drewes and Salih Özcan, they aren’t nominated for the Champions League. Otherwise, everyone is fine.

“Serhou completed his final training session today, just as he did before Mainz. I expect there will be no surprises.”

Guirassy has scored five goals and provided one assist in six games across all competitions for Borussia Dortmund this season.
