It is known that Alessandro Bastoni has long been admired by Barcelona, but the latest developments suggest this interest could now turn into something far more concrete.

According to reports from Sport Italia, Bastoni is genuinely excited by the idea of joining Barcelona. 

In fact, the defender is said to be so convinced by the project that he is not currently considering any alternative destinations.

Pursuit enters key phase

Despite the growing optimism, it is important to note that formal negotiations between Barcelona and Inter Milan have not yet begun. 

In fact, at this stage, the situation remains in its early operational phase.

Recent reports have thrown around wildly different figures regarding a potential transfer fee. 

Valuations have fluctuated from €50 million to as high as €90 million in a matter of days, but these numbers are not based on official talks.

Instead, they are seen as part of a wider ‘tug of war’ story between the two clubs, with each side attempting to position themselves strongly ahead of any real negotiations.

The Italian international is tied to Inter until 2028, with a deal signed in 2023 that includes a structured salary increase.

His earnings have now risen to nearly €7 million per season, although it is said that Barcelona are prepared to go further.

The Catalan club have already presented figures to Bastoni’s representatives that would significantly improve his current salary.

If Bastoni chooses to stay and extend his deal with Inter, it would likely not be for financial reasons, given that Barcelona’s proposal is understood to be more lucrative.

Meanwhile, from a sporting perspective, Bastoni ticks every box for Hansi Flick. 

His composure on the ball, ability to play out from the back, and tactical intelligence make him an ideal candidate for Barcelona’s evolving defensive structure.

The club’s hierarchy has fully embraced the idea of signing him, viewing him as the cornerstone of next season’s defensive rebuild.

For now, the situation remains delicately poised. Barcelona have the player’s approval, which is often the hardest part of any major transfer. 

However, the real challenge lies in negotiating with Inter and finding a financial structure that works for all parties involved.
