Juventus enjoyed a successful Serie A weekend without having to break a sweat. The leaders, who had a weekend off, saw title rivals Roma and Inter lose to AC Milan and Fiorentina respectively. Juventus remain 10 points clear at the top of the standings, leaving them on the brink of clinching the Serie A Femminile title.
Here, we round up all the latest action from the 2024/25 Serie A Femminile season.
Roma’s faint hopes of retaining the Serie A Femminile title were effectively ended in Saturday’s clash with AC Milan. The visitors actually made a positive start to the contest, establishing an early lead thanks to Evelyne Viens’ fourth-minute opener. However, Milan managed to pull themselves level just before the half-hour mark. The ball broke kindly for Evelyn Ijeh to fire into the top corner, sending the two teams into the break on level terms.
Milan completed the turnaround just after the hour mark. Chanté Dompig cut inside onto her right foot before drilling a low shot in at the near post. Giorgia Arrigoni then made sure of the three points in stoppage time with a stunning long-range effort.
That wrapped up a memorable win for Milan and piled the misery on the reigning Champions. Roma’s main focus will be on securing European qualification, given the fact that they are just three points clear of fourth-placed Fiorentina.
Inter missed the chance to move to within seven points of Juventus in the Serie A Femminile table. The second-placed side breathed a sigh of relief when Fiorentina’s Verónica Boquete failed to convert a first half penalty. Cecilía Rán Rúnarsdóttir guessed the right way to gather the tame spot-kick, ensuring the contest remained goalless at half time.
However, Inter failed to make the most of that reprieve, as they soon found themselves behind in the opening stages of the second half. Agnese Bonfantini pounced on a rebound to tuck the ball home from close range after Sofie Bredgaard had struck the woodwork. Bonfantini’s effort sealed back-to-back wins for Fiorentina, while Inter have now gone four league matches without a win.
Lazio scored two first half goals to see off Sassuolo in Saturday’s away clash. Clarisse Le Bihan opened the scoring in the 40th minute, driving the ball home after Elisabetta Oliviero saw her initial effort saved. Eleonora Goldoni quickly added a second to put the visitors in a strong position at the interval. Lazio ultimately stood firm in the second period to claim a fourth consecutive away win in Serie A Femminile. As for Sassuolo, they have now lost their last three competitive games by a combined 8-0 scoreline.
Basement side Sampdoria were denied their second league win of the season in Sunday’s meeting with Como. Giada Burbassi gave the visitors a 13th-minute lead, thumping the ball into the bottom corner after neatly bringing down Marta Llopis’ lofted pass. Como restored parity before half-time through Nadine Nischler, who quickly turned in the box to fire past Kathrine Larsen.
Cecilia Re headed Sampdoria back into the lead in the opening 10 minutes of the second period. The hosts held on to their slender advantage until Sarina Bolden netted a dramatic equaliser in the third minute of stoppage time. A free-kick from the left eventually found its way towards the 28-year-old, who poked the ball home with her right foot to ensure the spoils were shared.
