With Barcelona scouring the market for a top forward for the summer transfer window, AC Milan speedster Rafael Leao has emerged as one of the targets for the club.

Along with Liverpool winger Luis Diaz, the Blaugrana are looking at Leao as a potential game-changing signing to reinforce the frontline before next summer.

Even though he is currently not seen as the main target, Barça remain attentive to the situation of the Portuguese international and they may now have received a boost in their pursuit.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t Mundo Deportivo), following their elimination from the UEFA Champions League, AC Milan are considering significant squad changes ahead of next season.

And, one of the players most likely to depart is Leao, which will come as music to the ears of those at Barcelona, given that the 25-year-old is highly admired at the club.

If Milan signal an openness to selling, it could present Barça with a prime opportunity to secure a top-tier attacking reinforcement for next season.

Barcelona already explored the possibility of signing Leao last summer after it became clear that Nico Williams would not arrive.

However, Financial Fair Play restrictions prevented the club from making a formal offer for the dynamic winger.

With his dribbling ability and goal-scoring threat, Leao fits the profile of the wide attacker Barcelona are looking for to bolster their squad. However, securing his signature will not be easy, as his market value remains high and there are likely to be more suitors.
