Serrano announce return of Flamengo title-winning defender Thiago Sales | OneFootball

Serrano have re-signed defender Thiago Sales, a Flamengo academy graduate who was part of the club’s 2009 Brazilian league title-winning squad.

According to Coluna Do Fla, the club unveiled the centre-back on social media, wished him good luck and said his contract takes effect on Monday, when the squad reports for the season.

Sales came through Flamengo’s youth ranks and made his senior debut in 2007. He later featured in a championship group that included Adriano Imperador and Petkovic as leading figures.

Serrano are set to begin their Carioca Série A2 campaign on 18 April, giving Sales and the rest of the squad more than a month to prepare.

Meanwhile, Flamengo face Fluminense in the Carioca final on Sunday at the Maracanã, with kick-off at 18:00 Brasília time.
