Seven people arrested in Paris on Thursday night, the eve of the Coupe de France final between Lens and Nice, have had their case adjourned to 28 July. The court placed all seven under judicial supervision.
According to L'Équipe, they appeared on Tuesday before the 16th criminal chamber in Paris, four in custody, two at liberty, and a German citizen held in an administrative detention centre ahead of possible expulsion.
The bench postponed proceedings due to the complexity of the files and a two-hour hearing was not enough to examine the alleged facts. The accusations relate to participation in a group preparing violence against persons or the destruction or degradation of property. One lawyer likened the case file to a stack of three dictionaries.
Most are around 20, with largely clean records, and live in the regions of Nice, Nancy and Strasbourg, as well as in Germany. One, a financial analyst, said he had come for an electronic music concert then to spend two days with his father.
They are banned from going near any stadium. A parent asked whether that included playing, and was told it did. The presiding judge advised the group to watch the next match of interest, on 30 May, the Champions League final between PSG and Arsenal, from their sofas.
Other cases, said to be more serious, remain under investigation.
