The National Police have arrested 162 people linked to football ultra groups during the first half of the 2025-26 season, with particular focus on factions tied to Sevilla FC and Real Betis Balompié, the force said. The operations formed part of 15 investigations across several provinces, coordinated by the Comisaría General de Información.
Those detained are largely suspected of violent disorder, public order offences, assault and membership of a criminal group, allegedly operating in organised structures with planned actions. Most are men aged 18 to 40, many with prior public order records.
On 1 November 2025, around Atlético de Madrid’s game against Sevilla FC, officers prevented a violent clash between Biris Norte and Frente Atlético. Hidden material allegedly intended for violence was found in an area frequented by the Madrid group.
On 30 November, police foiled another planned brawl two days before the Seville derby, after learning of a meet-up between Biris Norte, United Family and Supporters Gol Sur. Fourteen ultras were arrested and material prepared for fighting was seized.
Information Brigades have also neutralised dozens of prearranged meetings through travel monitoring, intelligence work and coordination between units. Several operations seized extendable batons, flares, pyrotechnics and mouthguards.
The strategy spans international fixtures and youth sport, disrupting a possible clash in November in Bratislava between ultras of Rayo Vallecano and Slovan Bratislava, and stopping another at a youth game in Talavera de la Reina. It forms part of a zero tolerance policy involving the specialist hate crime prosecutor’s office and LALIGA to protect peaceful supporters.
