Sevilla are close to finalising a deal for Atlético Madrid left-back Julio Díaz after stepping in while he was heading to Levante. The move is expected to trigger the exit of a left-back from their current squad.
The 21-year-old had been due to sign the final papers with Levante on Monday, but has now given the green light to Sevilla. Superdeporte reported that Levante have pulled out in anger, clearing the way for Sevilla to complete the transfer.
Díaz joined Atlético’s academy in 2018 and made his senior debut under Diego Pablo Simeone in February 2026. Internationally, he won the Under-19 European Championship in 2024 and is a regular with Spain Under-20s.
He logged 311 LaLiga minutes across four games last season, delivering one assist. A left-footed full-back with an attacking streak, he can also operate as a winger. At 1.74 metres, he compensates with dynamism and tidy passing in the final third.
Sevilla currently have Gabriel Suazo, Adrià Pedrosa and Oso competing at left-back. Pedrosa appears out of the picture after a loan at Elche, while attempts to renew Oso’s contract are seen as unlikely to succeed.
Oso’s sale could become one of the club’s biggest of the summer amid interest from Olympiacos, Nottingham Forest and Fiorentina. Sevilla are expected to seek around €15-20 million.
