Sevilla are overhauling their goalkeeping department after Örjan Nyland’s exit and Odysseas Vlachodimos’s return to Newcastle United, and have identified Real Madrid Castilla prospect Fran González.
According to La Colina De Nervion, Sevilla are showing strong interest in the 20-year-old, who has several options to leave this summer. The report notes competition from RC Celta de Vigo, RCD Espanyol and Racing de Santander, with foreign proposals also present. A permanent move with a Real Madrid buy-back is viewed as the most feasible route.
Born in León, González developed at Cultural Leonesa before joining La Fábrica in 2022, rising quickly from Juvenil A to Real Madrid Castilla. He debuted in Primera División in 2024/25 and settled as the first-team’s third-choice goalkeeper.
This past season he was a regular for Castilla in Primera Federación while receiving first-team call-ups under Xabi Alonso and Álvaro Arbeloa. He has been with La Rojita since September and has drawn sustained scouting interest from his progress at Valdebebas.
González is a modern, towering keeper, close to two metres, noted for command in the air, sharp reflexes and proactive sweeping. His composure in possession supports building from the back.
Sevilla continue to explore a return for the Greece international, although the operation is complicated. Diego Conde, Villarreal’s third goalkeeper after the rise of Luiz Junior and the arrival of Arnau Tenas, remains the leading option, with González also firmly in the frame.
