Sevilla are revisiting David Affengruber as they accelerate plans to strengthen their defence, yet a steep valuation and strong rival interest could complicate any deal for the Elche centre-back.
With moves for Juan Iglesias and Arouna Sangante already advanced, the Austrian’s name is back on the radar. Krone.at reports that Sevilla have not dropped their interest after his performances at the Martínez Valero.
Mundo Deportivo reports that Real Betis, Atlético Madrid and Villarreal, plus Manchester United, are also in the frame for the defender.
Elche have set an asking price of €20m and Affengruber is under contract until 2027, a figure that the recruitment team led by Antonio Cordón views as a major hurdle. Sevilla also face a bidding war that could strain projections, and the team’s current sporting context offers little help.
Such an outlay looks unlikely given limited resources, and all transfer planning hinges on certifying mathematical survival. Sevilla visit Real Sociedad tonight, and victory would lift Luis García Plaza’s side out of the relegation places for now.
Until the picture clears, significant moves are on hold. That uncertainty has affected other targets, with the signing of Romanian midfielder Marius Marin, out of contract in June at Pisa, now paused, according to Orgullo de Nervión.
