Sevilla have accelerated preparations for the looming trip to Mestalla, where Matías Almeyda wants players back for a high-stakes meeting with Valencia. Off the pitch, a major summer rebuild is taking shape with contract calls and recruitment plans gathering pace.

According to ABC de Sevilla, the club must decide the futures of eight players whose deals expire in June: Vlachodimos, Mendy, Maupay, Azpilicueta, Alexis Sánchez, Nemanja Gudelj, Nyland and Adnan Januzaj. Gudelj will meet the club after the international break to discuss a renewal, and Nyland will not stay next season. The situations of Januzaj, Azpilicueta and Alexis depend on form and fitness.

This morning’s session brought encouragement, with Kike Salas and Odysseas Vlachodimos training normally with the group. Their return offers options in areas that have looked fragile in recent league games. Marcao and Peque continued to work apart.

Sporting chief Antonio Cordón is said to have deals in place for Juan Iglesias, Patrik Mercado and Arouna Sangante. A deep overhaul is planned for 2026-27, prioritising free agents, and Marius Marin of Pisa features on the list, with Cordón reportedly visiting Italy despite the player’s recent injury.

Sevilla also plan to cash in on Rubén Vargas, Lucien Agoumé and Juanlu Sánchez. Those sales are viewed as necessary to fund a move for Mercado, expected to cost around six million euros. Maintaining financial balance will be crucial to execute Cordón’s strategy.
