Sheffield United could be preparing themselves to make a move to Brighton winger Amario Cozier-Duberry, even though the player is on loan at Bolton.

Sheffield United could be set to launch a bid for exciting young Brighton & Hove Albion winger Amario Cozier-Duberry in January, even though the winger is currently on loan at League One Bolton Wanderers.

The Blades may be undergoing some significant upheaval following the reported sacking of Ruben Selles after just five league games in charge, but they're already reported to be looking to the future with a potential bid for talented young Brighton winger Cozier-Duberry, who is on loan at League One promotion hopefuls Bolton Wanderers this season.

The Blades are rooted to the bottom of the Championship table, having lost their first five consecutive matches of the season and having scored just one goal.

Ruben Selles, who was only appointed as a replacement for Chris Wilder in the summer, has already reportedly paid for this catatonic start to the season with his job following their catastrophic 5-0 loss at Ipswich on Friday night.

Journalist Alan Nixon reports that Sheffield United could be set to make a bid to take the Brighton winger Amario Cozier-Duberry to Bramall Lane in the January transfer window.

Cozier-Duberry was signed on a season-long loan by Bolton Wanderers during the summer, but Brighton have the option to recall him from that loan if they wish come the start of next year.

But such has been the strength of the player's start to the new season with Bolton that his current club will likely be desperate to retain his services, though there's no indication that they might make a permanent move for him themselves.

The 20-year-old, who had an indifferent stint with Blackburn Rovers last season in the Championship, has been on fire for the Trotters, scoring twice and assisting another two goals in eight League One outings - including a world-class long-range equaliser against Leyton Orient this weekend.

That Bolton Wanderers would want to keep hold of Amario Cozier-Duberry is utterly unsurprising, considering the start to the season that he's had.

Bolton have been slightly underwhelming so far, with five draws from their first eight games of the season having left them in 12th place in League One, but the player's individual figures reveal a very different story indeed for this particular player.

Cozier-Duberry, originally a product of the Arsenal academy system, has played in all nine of Bolton's matches so far this season in League One and the EFL Cup, scoring twice and delivering two assists in the league, as well as coming off the bench to score a stoppage-time equaliser in their eventual penalty shootout defeat to Sheffield Wednesday in the EFL Cup.

Indeed, these late interventions seem to be becoming a speciality of Cozier-Duberry's. He also scored their 94th-minute equaliser at Leyton Orient in their last league match.

Such a flying start to the new season was always likely to pique the interest of other clubs, and Sheffield United's frantic end to the summer transfer window demonstrated that they have the financial means to be aggressive in the transfer market.

Bolton will be desperate to keep hold of the player, but a step-up to the Championship will be tempting, and they could face a fight to retain his services beyond the start of the new year.
