FLW details which second-tier sides should be making a move for Jairo Riedewald in January.
Sheffield United have undergone a mini-revival under Chris Wilder in the Championship, and will be hopeful it can continue heading into the festive period.
The Blades have won their last three league games on the bounce, securing two 3-0 victories over Sheffield Wednesday and Portsmouth before grabbing a pulsating 3-2 win at the King Power Stadium over Leicester City.
This has helped the Blades leapfrog out of the bottom three and up to 19th, with these small sample size of results hopefully being the catalyst to seeing the Yorkshire outfit look up the table rather than over their shoulders over the coming months.
A player who has played a big part in Sheffield United’s resurgence is midfielder Jairo Riedewald. The ex-Crystal Palace man linked up at Bramall Lane mid-way through October on a deal until January and has fitted into the setup immediately, with the club only tasting one defeat from the five league games he’s started in.
Naturally, when someone adapts so well to Championship life, a number of other clubs will be keeping an eye on his situation, as he is currently set to become a free agent at the turn of the year.
A report from Football Insider’s Pete O’Rourke has outlined that Riedewald is a target for a number of other Championship sides due to his impressive stint in red and white. Sheffield United are keen to retain him beyond the short-term contract he originally penned, but it’s unknown at this stage whether the Dutchman wants to remain at the club for the remainder of the term.
With a number of unknown Championship sides keen on securing his services, FLW lists three teams who could be in the frame to land his signature.

It would be quite the move for Riedewald to make by swapping Sheffield United for table-topping Coventry City, but the Sky Blues will be aiming to keep squad competition healthy in order to maintain their promotion push to the Premier League, and it is something boss Frank Lampard has alluded to on many an occasion.
When looking at the squad, Matt Grimes is the only recognised defensive midfield option, and injuries could crop up in that area with the influx of games over the coming weeks and months.
With Grimes so vital to the Coventry system, it’s important to have another player on hand who can come in, make an impact and break up the play like the former Swansea City man does.
Because of that, Coventry should definitely be eyeing up a move for the Dutchman, with this move one of the best possible opportunities for him to get back playing in the Premier League.

Another club Riedewald could end up joining is Hull City, with the Tigers themselves pushing in a forward momentum and could be eyeing a promotion push this season.
Just like Coventry, Hull should be looking to add midfield reinforcements in order to ensure they have a healthy number of options to call upon when games come thick and fast.
At the moment, the Tigers are suffering with some injury issues in the midfield department, with Eliot Matazo sidelined with a cruciate ligament injury, while John Lundstram has recently returned from a calf issue and will need to be managed to ensure it isn’t aggravated.
While Regan Slater and Darko Gyabi have been impressive when called upon, the addition of Riedewald could be just what they need to add an extra layer of protection to the backline and ensure they keep more clean sheets, which will be hugely important to the Tigers maintaining their place in the promotion conversation.

A final club who may be tempted into a move for Jairo Riedewald is West Brom, with the midfield department an area Ryan Mason will want to bolster.
While Alex Mowatt and Jayson Molumby have shared the majority of the minutes this season, Albion are in need of some added depth in the six position, with Ousmane Diakite and Toby Collyer their only other options.
But the latter is really struggling with injury problems, and after hobbling off with another hamstring problem recently, it appears the Manchester United loanee won’t be seen in the blue and white stripes until the turn of the new year.
It does pose the question of whether West Brom accept that Collyer’s loan move isn’t going to work out and send him back to Old Trafford. With that being a possibility, Riedewald’s ability to settle into a team so quickly could be tempting for the Black Country outfit to pursue as they look to get up the table.
