Sheffield United’s search for a new left-winger is beginning to take shape ahead of what promises to be one of the most important transfer windows in recent years for the club.

The Blades are expected to prioritise reinforcements in wide areas this summer, with uncertainty surrounding Gustavo Hamer’s future and plans to use the Dutchman in a more central role should he remain at Bramall Lane. One player attracting strong interest is Huddersfield Town youngster Cameron Ashia. The 21-year-old enjoyed a breakthrough campaign in West Yorkshire, making 31 appearances, mostly from the bench, while scoring six goals and registering three assists. His performances earned him Huddersfield’s Academy Player of the Year award and alerted clubs from England, Germany and Scotland.

Ashia has primarily operated from the left flank, though his versatility allows him to play on the right-hand side as well. Huddersfield recently activated an option to extend his contract by a further year, but reports from the Daily Mail suggest the winger could still be available for a fee in the region of £500,000, a figure that would be a relatively low-risk investment for a Sheffield United side needing to balance the books.

Sheffield United Linked With Standout Winger

The Blades may also revisit their long-standing interest in Ipswich Town winger Jack Clarke, per The Star. The 23-year-old played a major role in Ipswich’s automatic promotion to the Premier League, scoring 16 goals during the campaign. Despite featuring in 46 matches, Clarke only started 23 games due to competition for places with Jaden Philogene, and questions remain over how prominent his role will be in the top flight next season.

Clarke’s direct running, creativity and Championship pedigree would make him an attractive option for Chris Wilder’s side, particularly if United are looking for a ready-made replacement capable of delivering immediate end product from wide areas.

Blades Eyeing Exciting Young Premier League Forward

Another name believed to be under consideration is Everton forward Lewis Dobbin. The young attacker impressed during his loan spell at Preston North End in the 2025/26 Championship season, scoring 10 goals and contributing eight assists. Like Ashia and Clarke, Dobbin is capable of operating off the left-hand side and would add pace and energy to United’s frontline.

There is a growing sense that Sheffield United are casting the net wide in their search for attacking reinforcements, and understandably so. The club are facing a difficult rebuild following a bang average mid-table finish, with no parachute payments to soften the financial blow and several key positions requiring attention.
