Sheffield United look to be getting back to their best in the Championship, and the added experience of players like Patrick Bamford - who have arrived months into the season - appears to be helping.

Chris Wilder’s men have propelled themselves outside the second-tier drop zone by defeating the likes of Stoke City, Leicester and Portsmouth recently, and a charge for promotion certainly isn’t out of the question for the Blades.

In order to keep this upwards trajectory going, the January transfer window may be a defining period in the red half of the Steel City, with areas of the Blades squad needing to be bolstered, along with current first-team figures needing game time away from the club.

One player who falls into the latter category is forward Ryan Oné, who has a massive task on his hands to earn regular minutes in South Yorkshire given their ample options at the top end of the pitch.

With Wilder playing a two-striker formation, the Sheffield United boss has been able to call upon all of Patrick Bamford, Tom Cannon, Danny Ings and Tyrese Campbell to lead the lines, with Oné fortunate to be making the matchday squad at times.

It’s raised questions of whether he needs a loan spell away from the club in January, with his first-team prospects pretty bleak until he earns minutes under his belt at a lower level in the EFL.

With this in mind, FLW’s Sheffield United fan pundit has commented over whether Oné should leave on loan at the turn of the new year, and which division he should be playing in.

Sheffield United advised to sanction Ryan Oné loan exit to League One

Speaking to Football League World, Sheffield United fan pundit Jimmy (AKA Blades Ramble) has advised the Blades to sanction a loan exit for Ryan Oné in January, demanding the 19-year-old gets an opportunity for regular minutes in League One.

Jimmy said: “It’s absolutely vital that Ryan Oné goes out on loan in January, and I honestly think that’s what will happen.

“I’m pretty sure that is what’s on the cards for Oné. He’s getting into the squad but not making any appearances from the bench now.

“We’re playing two up top with four senior strikers before Ryan Oné even gets a look in, so he has to be playing regular football for his development, and I’d be really surprised if he didn’t go out on loan in January.

“I would like to see him at League One level as I think he’s capable of playing at that level, but if it has to be League Two, he’s still only a young boy, he’s got plenty of time to develop, he’s on a long-term contract at Sheffield United, so yeah, let’s just get him out and playing some football.”

There’s no doubt Ryan Oné is such a promising talent on the Sheffield United books, with Chris Wilder believing he has a 'huge future' at Bramall Lane, but his development could be hindered if he stays beyond January.

As mentioned, the Blades have a plethora of attacking talent at their disposal, many with extensive experience of playing regularly in the second-tier too, so it’s difficult to see how Oné can battle and displace them in the immediate future.

And it’s been proven by his lack of minutes so far this season, with the Scotsman failing to feature for the club since the beginning of November.

The frontman has either been an unused substitute or not in the squad at all, and it’s not an ideal position to be in when you’re trying to break through and make a name for yourself in the English game.

The only way Oné is going to prove to Sheffield United that he’s worthy of a chance is to step down a division for the remainder of this season and find the back of the net on a consistent basis.

Given his young age and potential, there should be a queue of third-tier sides lining up to secure his services, but he has to make a move to a team where he is going to be a valued player and a main force at the top end of the pitch.
