Links to Reading midfielder Charlie Savage are impressive for Sheffield Wednesday.
Sheffield Wednesday are a club that will be revamped and rebuilt over the summer as the Owls prepare for life back down in League One after a tortuous year or so.
Dejphon Chansiri allowed the club to go onto the verge of ruin before he placed it into administration last summer, allowing the club to finally look for a way out.
That way out appears to have now finally arrived with the takeover of the club by a consortium led by David Storch.
A final day victory against West Bromwich Albion allowed Wednesday to push themselves onto zero points after battling against points deductions and transfer embargoes throughout the campaign.
Henrik Pedersen looks as though he may stay on as Wednesday, who will not begin next season with a points deduction, attempt to revitalise themselves.
A part of that will require smart and impressive recruitment over the summer, and links to Reading’s Charlie Savage are already raising the excitement levels.
The Welshman has been a long-term target for Cardiff City, who appear to be leading the way to acquire his services at this moment in time ahead of no shortage of competitors, although the interest itself is revealing of what sort of transfer policy the Owls may deploy this summer, and that's a huge source of excitement for Wednesdayites.

From a playing perspective, Charlie Savage would represent good business for the club as the Reading midfielder has established himself as one of the more impressive League One midfield operators over the last couple of years.
He would immediately improve Wednesday and be a bit of a statement of intent while, perhaps more importantly, also indicate a sensible approach in the transfer market – seeking to find value and be run more profitably with a future sale. That is something that FLW’s Sheffield Wednesday Fan Pundit Patrick McKenna believes is key.
Patrick says: “Charlie Savage does fit into the category of a younger player who has got a bit of potential at Football League level, which he has shown now already and there is a future resale value.
“I do want to hear about players like that, of that sort of profile. It would show a plan for the new structure at the club and a modern approach to squad building.
“Along with the experience needed, if there is to be an indication that already a push towards us looking towards players like Charlie Savage then that is encouraging to hear.
“A massive rebuild is needed at the club and players with future resale value will be key to that.
“It would be, I suppose, an indication that the Storch consortium do mean business. They have shown that in a few areas but I suppose this would just be a continuation of what they are looking to do at the club.”

Having come through the academy at Manchester United, making a couple of first-team appearances for the Red Devils, Charlie Savage has established himself as one of the better players in League One in recent seasons.
After a short loan stint with Forest Green Rovers, the now 23-year-old joined Reading on a free transfer in the summer of 2023 and has gone on to be a key man for a Royals side that initially battled against their own major off-field problems before steadying in the last 12 months or so.
Despite that, Reading have often punched above their weight with the off-field matters and pushed towards the top six and the play-off places with Savage paramount to that.
His versatility as someone who initially began more as a real out and out attacking midfielder to a box-to-box role has also been impressive with his maturity and durability also leading him to stand out; with Savage having managed 130 League One appearances in three seasons.
An established midfielder for an already established League One side being poached by the Owls would certainly be a statement of intent from the new setup at Hillsborough.
