The Owls are hoping to add some much-needed depth to their threadbare squad
Sheffield Wednesday are looking to add some much-needed reinforcements to their threadbare squad, with Henrik Pedersen said to be exploring the possibility of loan deals for two Manchester United starlets.
According to Red Devils-based news outlet, United In Focus, the Championship side have shortlisted the Under-21s duo of Gabriele Biancheri and Victor Musa, with the Premier League side also thrilled with the experience which young defender, Harry Amass, is getting at Hillsborough in extremely testing circumstances.
Indeed, the Steel City side are firmly rooted to the bottom of the second-tier, with a first season in League One since 2022/23 looking all the more likely after Wednesday were placed into administration last month by controversial former owner, Dejphon Chansiri.
This meant an automatic 12-point deduction was imposed on the club by the EFL, with Pedersen's side currently on -4 points, some 17 points adrift of safety with 31 league games remaining.
To their credit, Wednesday would only be narrowly at the foot of the table had such sanctions been put in place, as they would have just one fewer point than Norwich City, who are a crisis club at present for differing reasons after the dismissal of Liam Manning over the weekend.
Pedersen has made it no secret that he would love to add further bodies to an extremely light squad, having previously been unable to do so due to several transfer or registration-themed embargoes.
The club's administrators - Begbies Traynor - remain in dialogue over the possibility of trying to sign free agents as soon as possible. However, loan deals can still be made, as proven by the deals which brought Amass and Ethan Horvath to S6 from United and Cardiff City respectively.

With the January window just weeks away, the Owls are looking to forward-plan on this front whilst takeover talks, unsurprisingly, remain the club's top priority.
Several free agents have been linked with a potential move to South Yorkshire in recent days, such as Liam Cooper, Timothy Fosu-Mensah and Andy Rinhomota. However, the wait goes on in terms of when the trio, and potentially more names, could see moves to the club officially ratified.
As previously mentioned, the only incomings which Wednesday have been able to source during an extremely tumultuous opening three months of the Championship season have been on a temporary basis, with two of them coming between the sticks. Horvath's services were deemed a necessity following an injury blow to Pierce Charles in August, whilst Joe Lumley replaced the American for two games amid a one-game suspension due to an 'emergency loan' agreement with Bristol City.
As such, the aforementioned Amass is the only outfield incoming, and that is down to the well-documented fact that Ruben Amorim's side are paying for every aspect of the deal due to Wednesday still being cash-strapped.
It is now being claimed that Biancheri and Musa could join their Old Trafford colleague across the Pennines in January, as Pedersen looks to bolster his attacking output, with the division's bottom side only scoring nine times in 15 Championship outings.
Biancheri - a Welsh youth international - has scored four times in seven Premier League 2 appearances for United's Under-21s side so far this term, whilst also featuring in EFL Trophy encounters against Lincoln City, Barnsley and Notts County.
Meanwhile, Spanish-born Musa has made four PL2 appearances thus far, and also came on as a substitute in the 3-0 defeat to the Imps at the LNER Stadium in September.

The aforementioned loan swoops certainly cannot be ruled out, especially with the fact United are clearly impressed by how Amass has developed in South Yorkshire after just two months of his loan stint.
Despite being a natural defender, Pedersen's three-back system has meant the 18-year-old has been stationed in an advanced role, showcasing his ability to help out in both an attacking and defensive sense, and he was rewarded with his first senior goal last time out in the Owls' 3-1 loss at Southampton.
Like their young colleague, this would be a first loan stint away from Old Trafford for Biancheri and/or Musa, and given Wednesday's predicament, where the club is looking to add stability and momentum ahead of a pending League One campaign, it would only enhance their chances of featuring as part of Amorim's long-term vision.
