Danny Rohl is reportedly looking to reunite with Sheffield Wednesday defender Max Lowe at Rangers, but the move would surely anger Owls fans.
With just under two weeks remaining in the January transfer window, it could be a nervous period for Sheffield Wednesday supporters.
As the wait continues to discover whether preferred bidder James Bord will be given approval by the EFL to complete his proposed takeover, Wednesday remain in administration, meaning players may need to be sold in order to raise funds to help the club through the remainder of the season.
A number of the Owls' stars are currently attracting interest from elsewhere, including long-serving captain Barry Bannan, who is said to be on the radar of the likes of Stoke City, Millwall, Preston North End and Motherwell, and manager Henrik Pedersen failed to rule out the midfielder's exit before the end of the window when quizzed on his future.
While Bannan's departure would be devastating for Wednesday, he is far from the only player who could leave the club over the coming weeks, with Pierce Charles, Yisa Alao, Charlie McNeill and Bailey Cadamarteri also believed to have admirers, and defender Max Lowe became the latest name to be linked with a move away from Hillsborough over the weekend.

The Star reported on Saturday morning that Scottish giants Rangers had made an enquiry for Lowe earlier in the window as manager Danny Rohl looks to reunite with one of his former Wednesday players.
Rohl signed Lowe for the Owls on a free transfer last summer, with the 28-year-old making the controversial move across the Steel City after his release by Sheffield United, and he was a regular as the German led the club to a 12th-placed finish in the Championship last season.
After almost three months out of work following his summer exit from Hillsborough, Rohl took over at Rangers in October, and having steered his side back into the Scottish Premiership title race, he is facing an important January transfer window.
It seems Rohl has set his sights on a reunion with Lowe at Ibrox, but after enquiring about his availability, it is unclear at this stage whether they will return with a formal offer, and, in any case, it is believed the chances of him leaving Wednesday this month are "slim", with the defender said to have "no immediate desire" to move on.
However, as Lowe's contract in S6 is due to expire in the summer, the Gers can hold talks with him over a potential pre-contract deal as they are based outside England, and the situation may change if they decide to table a bid before the close of the winter window.

Lowe has been one of Wednesday's most consistent performers over the past 18 months, so it is little surprise that he is attracting interest from elsewhere, and few Owls supporters expect him to extend his contract and stay with the club in League One next season.
In fact, given that Lowe initially handed in his notice in the summer amid links with Preston North End and Leicester City before later having a change of heart, many will be grateful to him for remaining in South Yorkshire for this long, rather than following the example of former team-mates Josh Windass and Michael Smith, who both took up their options to terminate their contracts.
However, while Wednesday fans would hold no grudges against Lowe if he decided to move on this month, it would no doubt sting them to see him reunite with Rohl at Rangers.
It is fair to say that Rohl has something of a mixed legacy at Hillsborough, with some viewing him as a talented manager who was let down by Chansiri's mismanagement and reluctance to back him in the transfer market, while others feel that the 36-year-old disrespected the Owls on the way out after his acrimonious departure.
Having publicly stated his desire to leave while still under contract with Wednesday in the summer, Rohl could certainly have handled the situation better, but considering the chaos that unfolded in the months prior to Chansiri putting the club into administration, it is difficult to blame him for searching for an escape route.
With Rohl's standing at Hillsborough damaged by his summer actions, his reputation would take another hit if he was to take advantage of his former club's plight by making a bid for Lowe this month, particularly as the defender's exit would be another blow to an already threadbare squad.
Lowe is one of the few senior players remaining in an Owls squad that has been stretched to the limit in recent weeks due to injuries, and while results are largely insignificant with their relegation all but confirmed, the last thing Pedersen needs is to have his options depleted even further.
If it was not painful enough for Wednesday supporters to see Rohl reunite with their former winger Djeidi Gassama at Rangers, losing Lowe to the Scottish outfit would be another bitter pill to swallow during what has been a nightmare season.
