The American is leading a group, Arise Capital, that is seeking to buy the Owls after they went into administration in October.

The Yorkshire outfit have endured a difficult campaign both on and off the pitch, with Henrik Pedersen’s side struggling for results.

Sheffield Wednesday have suffered relegation to League One, and will be hoping to start planning for life in the third tier under new owners as quickly as possible.

A timeframe of 1 May has been given for when ratification from the EFL may be received, which will usher in the beginning of a new era for the Championship side.

Here we look at all the latest news surrounding the takeover situation as the 1 May deadline looms…

It has been reported by The Star that Storch met with the Sheffield Wednesday players ahead of his proposed takeover of the club going through.

It’s been claimed that captain Liam Palmer had an extended conversation with the American businessman.

Storch met with the squad in order to outline their ambitions, and where their future may lie ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.

It’s understood that the meeting was positive, and there is a optimistic atmosphere surrounding the dressing room.

Sheffield Wednesday have been facing the prospect of a 15 point deduction penalty as part of Storch’s takeover.

This is due to the around £20 million over to buy the club being lower than the figure needed to pay the Owls’ creditors, including former owner Dejphon Chansiri, at the rate of 25p to the pound, as per the EFL’s rules.

However, it has been reported by the Wednesday Word that talks with the Thai businessman are now progressing.

It remains to be seen whether an agreement can be struck, but a deal could lead to the Yorkshire outfit avoiding any further sanctions from the league once the takeover is ratified.

It has also been reported that there is now a growing confidence that Storch’s takeover of the club could be completed in time for the final day clash against West Brom next month.

Anticipation is building for the game on 2 May, which will take place in front of a packed Hillsborough crowd in a 12.30pm kick-off.

EFL warned about Dejphon Chansiri agreement

Ex-Everton CEO Keith Wyness has urged the EFL to prevent Chansiri from profiting from Sheffield Wednesday’s sale.

He believes that the league should come to their senses regarding their rules and the potential sanctions the Owls face if an agreement with the 57-year-old can’t be found.

“There will be a legal aspect to this,” said Wyness, via Football Insider.

“But you would hope the EFL with Rick Parry and Trevor Birch can actually come to their senses and find a way through this.

“You have also now got David Kogan at the independent football regulator, who has also got experience. This is exactly where football has got to take these decisions into itself and not go to the legal fraternity.”

“This is a perfect example of something that could be resolved within the football family and stop a lot of money going out of football.

“It’s going back to Chansiri, but it should be kept in football, and this is all about that.

“There could be future penalties or other sanctions placed on Sheffield Wednesday if they don’t do it appropriately, or Storch doesn’t act in good faith, but I think he will.

“There is a way to resolve this with common sense to try and do this for football rather than self-harming.”

Dejphon Chansiri agreement claim

When asked about the prospect of Chansiri agreeing a deal with Storch that could prevent a 15 point deduction for next season, FLW’s Sheffield Wednesday fan pundit Patrick McKenna expressed his surprise.

While he is sceptical a deal can be reached, and won’t believe it until he sees it, he is excited by the prospect of the takeover being completed in time for the clash against the Baggies.

"Obviously everything isn't completed and it's not over the line just yet," McKenna told FLW.

"But with this news here, it's just positive news, I suppose.

“If they get this completed in time for the West Brom game, which is now pretty much sold out, then wow — what an atmosphere that will be.

"I'm astounded that talks are going on with Chansiri.

"That is one thing I never thought would happen. If somehow they have managed to engage him on the deal, then that is massive.

"If they're able to make progress with the absolutely useless EFL, then that's more good news.

"Yeah, as I said, this sounds positive. It is hard not to get a bit excited with it.

"You still do have to remember that we are Sheffield Wednesday.

"Good things don't happen to us, so let's not just get carried away yet.
