Sheffield Wednesday are still waiting for ratification from the EFL for James Bord's takeover bid
Ratification of the Sheffield Wednesday takeover process by the EFL is not expected imminently, as per a fresh report, but progress is being made on James Bord's attempts to take the Owls out of administration.
According to The Star, there is still confidence from a source in support of the bid that things are on the right track with Bord’s consortium to complete his purchase of the Championship side.
The preferred bidder was named on Christmas Eve, a whole month-and-a-half ago, but the club are stuck in limbo waiting for approval from the EFL before the deal can be completed.
The Owls have been in administration since October 24 after Dejphon Chansiri relinquished control of the club, with supporters hoping for as swift a resolution as possible.
Sheffield Wednesday are on the verge of having their relegation to League One already confirmed, but delays in the takeover being completed could stall their ability to plan for life in the third tier next season.

It is understood that there is confidence from those in support of Dunfermline Athletic owner Bord’s offer to buy the club that everything is still on the right track.
While the ratification process is not expected to conclude in the immediate future, there are no major concerns regarding any stumbling blocks that scupper the takeover.
There have been some questions regarding whether Bord, a former poker player, and investment partner Felix Roemer would pass the EFL’s Owners and Directors’ test.
But it’s understood that the hold up in the ratification process is because there are multiple parties that need to be evaluated as part of these tests.
It’s also been claimed that their businesses being involved abroad has complicated matters, and thus slowed down the approval process.
The Owls are struggling at the bottom of the Championship table, and will be hoping that this takeover will signal the beginning of a new era at Hillsborough, with life in League One now on the horizon.
Next up for Henrik Pedersen’s side is a home clash against Millwall on February 14 in a 3pm kick-off, which will see the return of Owls legend Barry Bannan as an opposition player.

The longer this takeover process goes on, the more it is hurting Sheffield Wednesday, as evidenced by the player sales in the January window.
However, as long as it does all go through in the next couple of months without any more problems, then the club should be able to move on and start a new era.
The confidence behind the scenes that there won’t be any issues should ease some concerns that were bubbling under the surface in recent weeks.
There are a lot of valid reasons why this is taking as long as it is, as outlined, and supporters must remain patient for the time being and hopefully remain positive.
