David Storch has thanks the Sheffield Wednesday supporters for the way he was welcomed as his family look to complete a takeover of the club.

David Storch has thanked Sheffield Wednesday supporters for how they welcomed him into the city as his family look to finalise a deal for the club.

It has been a hectic period for the Owls, who entered administration back in October, with the focus on finding a new owner for the Yorkshire outfit.

A consortium led by James Bord had initially been in pole position to buy the club, but he withdrew his bid last month, which created more uncertainty surrounding the Owls, with Henrik Pedersen's side having already been relegated from the Championship.

However, there is a much more positive outlook around Wednesday now, as it was revealed that the Storch Family are the preferred bidders.

Whilst they still have to pass the necessary EFL checks before they can officially be named as the new owners, given their resources, there is confidence that this will get over the line.

The prospect of owning Sheffield Wednesday is clearly appealing to David Storch as well, as he has been in the city to speak to fans recently, and he took to social media to thank the fans for the way the family has been received.

Sheffield Wednesday can start the long road to a brighter future with the Storch Family

As mentioned, there is still work to do before this deal is signed off, but you can understand why Sheffield Wednesday fans are optimistic about what the future could look like with the Storch Family owning the club.

Obviously, there will still be some major hurdles to overcome, particularly in the short-term, as they will be inheriting a weak squad, even by League One standards, and we know they will be starting with a points deduction and wage restrictions next season.

But, this is a long-term project for the Storch Family, and they clearly see huge potential in the Owls, and it’s easy to see why.

This message is a nice touch from David Storch, and all supporters who came in contact with him and listened to what he said during his time in Sheffield have been left impressed, which is hugely encouraging.

Of course, they will be judged on actions rather than words, but there is light at the end of the tunnel for Wednesday.

Now, it’s a case of waiting until the takeover is complete, and then the hard work will really start for the new owners as they look to get the club back on track and climbing back up the EFL.
