Shumaira Mheuka: I'm focused on training, playing and making an impact | OneFootball

Celtic departed Paisley with all three points on Saturday night after a 2-1 victory against high-flying St Mirren which took the Hoops’ domestic winning run to five wins from five matches so far this season.

It was almost an even more convincing scoreline on the night, with Chelsea loanee Shumaira Mheuka seemingly rubber-stamping the result with a good finish near the end before VAR intervened and ruled the strike out for offside.

The young striker, however, is determined to open his account as soon as possible and says that Saturday’s disallowed finish won’t linger in his mind for too long as he targets more opportunities and more finishes.

Mheuka spoke to the media this afternoon (Tuesday) ahead of tomorrow night’s trip to Perth to face St Johnstone (Wednesday 8, KO 8pm) and explained that he has settled in to life at Celtic well.

“Obviously at the time (on Saturday) I thought it was a goal and you could see that in my celebrations.” Mheuka said. “But these things happen. There’ll hopefully be plenty more opportunities in the coming games for me to score.

“It’s been amazing here so far. Everyone has welcomed me like a family. The fans are top class as well, and I knew that coming in.

“Your ultimate goal is to be a regular first-team player in due course. Speaking to my family and everyone close to me, we felt like Celtic was the best option.”

“I’m just focused on playing and training, trying to get in to that team and make an impact whenever I can. It’s definitely the right step in my development.”
