Sidny Cabral eager after Cape Verde World Cup call-up | OneFootball

Benfica’s No 15 Sidny Cabral has been called up by Cape Verde for the 2026 World Cup and says he cannot wait to get going.

According to Glorioso 1904, Cape Verde’s 26-player squad will share a group with Spain, Uruguay and Saudi Arabia, and Cabral believes his country can make a strong impression.

The winger accepts the opener against Spain is probably their toughest test, yet remains upbeat. He says they must give their all and, if they keep their structure, they have a chance.

Preparation is the immediate focus. The Blue Sharks face Serbia on 31 May at Estádio do Restelo in Lisbon, then travel to the United States to play Bermuda in Connecticut before the group stage begins.

In 2025/26, spanning Estrela da Amadora and Benfica, Cabral has made 28 competitive appearances, 23 in Liga Portugal Betclic, two in the Champions League, two in the Taça de Portugal and one in the Taça da Liga. Across 1,835 minutes he has six goals and six assists, and is valued at €5 million.
